Quilts on the Wall is a group of art quilters who meet every other month to support our fellow fiber artists. We share our work and have two annual challenges that produce over 20 pieces that are exhibited at various shows throughout the US. We are forty members strong and meet in Seal Beach at the Rossmoor Library.

Our juried body of work called “Urban Graffiti” has produced 27 entries. Graffiti can be defined as everything from tagging to elaborate wall murals to renowned artist Banksy’s iconic work. Our art quilts reflect the full spectrum of graffiti, each piece in a 36” wide x 24” high format. Some artists embraced graffiti and others expressed their distaste. There is no doubt that the subject of graffiti brings strong reactions. It is a reflection of today’s culture in that it has opened up an entire venue for artists to express themselves. There is a fine line between appreciation of the graffiti art produced and the ‘art’ seen as vandalism. It is a form of free expression, something society is seeking.
